SUMMARY:Costal Shark Monitoring
DESCRIPTION:The Costal Shark Monitoring program is a community based initiative designed to engage residents and students in shark monitoring research. \nThrough observation\, data collection\, behavior monitoring\, and reporting activities\, the Costal Shark Monitoring program works with students to build scientific literacy\, environmental understanding\, and public engagement. \nThe mission of the Coastal Shark Monitoring program is to involve communities in the conservation of sharks\, using citizen science to support research initiatives while creating awareness of ocean ecosystems. \n  \nThe program includes; \n\nParticipant Recruitment & Training: Volunteers\, students and community members are recruited through schools\, community organization and social media. All participants will receive training in shark identification\, safety protocols\, and data collection methods.\nShark Sighting & Observation: Program participants will conduct observations from beaches\, piers\, coastal trails\, snorkeling\, diving\, boat tours and kayak trips.\nData Collection: All program members will submit their sightings to the program leaders including photos and videos for scientists to analyze.\n\n  \nSpots are limited\, so make sure to sign up to be a program member as soon as possible.
