shark tooth bay’s Local Marine Life Art Competition

Throughout the month of February, middle and high school students from Shark Tooth Bay had the opportunity to compete in our local Marine Life Art Competition. Students were tasked with drawing, sketching, painting, or illustrating a marine animal of their choosing.

This year, over 200 students submitted their artwork. With such a large pool of submissions, competition was tough. A board of 15 school teachers, administrators, and school board members came together and voted on their favorites. Prizes for each winner, 1st through 10th were awarded.

  • 1st Place;
    • Their artwork showcased on our website.
    • Their artwork turned into a mural inside of town hall.
    • A $1,000 scholarship.
    • A day internship with a local artist.
  • 2nd Place;
    • Their artwork showcased on our website.
    • Their artwork showcased on display inside of town hall.
    • A $200 scholarship.
  • 3rd Place;
    • Their artwork showcased on our website.
    • Their artwork showcased on display inside of town hall.
    • A $100 scholarship.
  • 4th through 10th place will all receive a certificate and a medal.

We would like to thank every student who participated in this competition, all of your artwork showcased your skills, hard work, and dedication to what your created. The board struggled to pick just 10 out of the 200 wonderful submissions.

The top three winners of this year’s Local Marine Life Art Competition were:

  • The first place winner, a junior from Bluewater High School, is Marie Shelby with her artwork titled “Sharks; The Curious Creatures”. Her shark painting is shown below;
  • The second place winner, a senior from Coastal Ridge High School, is Jack Stutson with his artwork titled “Stained Glass Sea Turtles”. His artwork is shown below.
  • The third place winner, a junior from Coastal Ridge High School, is Kaetlyn Kool with her artwork titled “Seas the Day”. Her artwork is shown below.
